Quilt Crusader : One who rescues lost and abandoned Antique Quilts and renews their spirit by documenting and restoring, thereby continuing to tell their stories through the hands that originally quilted fabrics together into objects of Love, Warmth and Family History.

My approach when Restoring or Conserving your family’s quilts is 'Less is More'. I only work the areas that are needed to structurally strengthen the piece for the future and use only fabric from the era of the quilt so not to disrupt the flow or integrity of fabrics in your quilt.

When Documenting your family quilt a booklet is produced. Pictures of the quilt are taken, along with details of stitches, fabric and the backing. Together with the family, the history of the quilt is written (date and geographic details) and the story of its making (family history) recorded. All other photos and ephemera can be included in the quilts booklet. Once the quilt is restored and documented it can then be Preserved in a museum archival storage box. Your family’s quilts are now protected from light, dust and pests and are prevented from any further disintegration or wear. The quilt’s can be taken out and used but their story remains safe and true for many generations to come!
